Cleaning Sheets with Hot Water and Bleach?

I use white sheets, both all cotton and cotton/poly blends, and like to
wash them in hot water with bleach. I suspect some of them are "easy
care," but I'm not sure.

My sheets seem okay but I've noticed that most sheet manufacturers
recommend washing in cold or cool water with no bleach.

I care about killing germs, not shrinkage or wrinkles, and am wondering
what sort of damage hot water and bleach are doing to my sheets.

If anyone can shed some light on this, I'd appreciate it.

Both hot water and bleach will make the fabric "brittle" and you'll get some
holes in it (especially if left in bleach too long or too strong).

the bleach will put holes in them. Been there, done that -- all cotton.
Especially for these high thread-count sheets, it's easy to damage.

i still use hot water -- i'm with you on the germ-killing. I gave up
bleach.

holes and brittle fabric...yikes! so far this hasn't happened. i've been
adding about 3/4 cup-1 cup of bleach per load and the sheets are about two
years old, probably not enough time for the damage to show.

thanks very much for the information.
