The best thing to do is find a good massage therapist in your area,
and talk to him/her directly. It's going to be difficult to tell you
what sort of massage you need via a newsgroup.

i have a lot of back pain (fractured my lower back in two
places years ago), and i've found deep-tissue & something
called 'thai massage' (lots of stretching) help the most.
The normal stuff most of them do helps for about an hour.

be sure it's really deep, too... lots will say 'sure' to
anything to get you in the door. Look for someone who
specifically advertises it.
